I'm mostly ambivalent about the World Cup. I like soccer (or football as everyone else in the world calls it), but I don't know any of the teams, the players, the rivalries. If I stumble across it on TV I'll probably watch a few minutes, but I haven't been actively seeking it out. I did notice that the US beat Portugal. I am not sure this is a triumphant victory. I've never heard that Portugal is a world class team or a contender for the cup. I did notice this weird headline this morning "Youth served as U.S. shocks Portugal at World Cup". It sounded cannibalistic to me.
